With record setting rainfall this year, the water levels on Big Marine Lake have remained high and several concerned property owners met with County Commissioner Fran Miron, District Administrator Jim Shaver and DNR Hydrologist Jenifer Sorensen to discuss issues of high water levels. Despite the District performing maintenance activities such as vegetation removal and dredging of high spots from the outlet weir to 155th street, citizens voiced concerns over water storage capacity for winter snow melt and ice out on Big Marrine Lake. The Board of Managers agreed to a one-time drawn down of water levels downstream from the outlet and to re-examine the Turtle Lake Weir Operations Plan while performing other maintenance downstream from 155th Street and posting a maintenance log on the District website. This log can be viewed on the outlet channel maintenance page.
