In 2013 the Board of Managers recognized the need for a major amendment to its 2010 Watershed Management Plan to address the increasing public concern for aquatic invasive species and groundwater availability and quality. The Board is currently engaged in the amendment process. Interested parties are invited to provide input.
The District's current Watershed Management Plan was approved by the Board of Water and Soil Resources on August 26, 2010. This was the culminating step in a process that began in the summer of 2008 when the Board met to create a Strategic Plan for the District.
In the fall of 2008, all District residents were invited to attend kick-off meetings with representatives of local governments and state agencies. Attendants were asked to participate on a citizens' and technical advisory commiittees to provide on-going comment as the Plan progressed. Our consultants tracked all the comments and the Board reviewed them, making the appropriate changes to the Plan. The District then sent the Plan to all appropriate reviewing agencies, with additional courtesy copies sent to local governments within the District.
Many of the Objectives and Strategies in Plan Section II are a result of the Board's work on its Strategic Plan in 2008.
