Cut and Learn Volunteer Event at Burris Park

  • Burris Park 261 Parker St Marine on St Croix, MN, 55047 United States (map)

Are you concerned about the impact Buckthorn and non-native bush honeysuckles have on our natural habitats? Do you like being outdoors and participating in hands-on activities?  If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, the Carnelian-Marine-St. Croix Watershed District and Washington Conservation District invite you to participate in a Cut and Learn Event at Burris Park. The event will provide volunteers an opportunity to remove the invasive species and to participate in a tour of the Mill Stream Restoration project that aims to improve the ecology of the stream.  If you have a couple of hours to spare on a Saturday morning, read on!

Volunteers will receive training on how to identify the targeted invasive species and the proper techniques for using tools to cut and treat the plants to prevent further growth and spreading. Tools will be available; however, if you have your own pruning saw, hand pruner, or lopper please feel free to bring them.  Be sure to mark your tools for identification.
